Sketch Dump: Adult OCs

Well, since I drew Thaddeus, I decided to introduce some more of my adult OCs...

<sub>First, on top, we have Jaina, a fairly tough and extremely matriarchal woman who's well-respected by most everyone. She tends to keep the younger people in check, and mother's them in a tough-love sort of way. She has a son of her own, Akash, but he's a bit too grown up for her to horn in on, so she compensates with "adopted children". Along with her son, she owns a good number of buildings in Lar, which were bequeathed to them by her deceased husband. They rent out the buildings to various businesses, and Jaina keeps and manages an inn for herself. She and Thaddeus might also have a thing for each other.

Next is Jordi and Rhea, my favorite couple! Jordi is an apothecary, and Rhea is a physician, so obviously they met each other through business. Now, both head an infirmary in the port area of Lar. Jordi is the more relaxed and easy-going type, while Rhea is more focused and can be a bit fussy over things. But overall, they're both two of the friendliest people you'll meet. Together they have a toddler son (who I still haven't settled on a name for), and they also rent out a space in their home to Leon.

Next is Arka, Sylar's father. Not unlike his son, he can be a pretty reserved guy, but he also acts well as an authoritative figure when he needs to. The Sinoda's descend from a long line of merchants, so, most of the time, Arka's busy helping his brother Eras run the family business. His family is also quite notable, so there's a bit of social upkeep as well. Yet, while Arka doesn't really care much for socializing, he's a lot more approachable than his brother, so it's better that he act as the family's representative. With his wife, Rashel, they have two kids, Evolet and Sylar. Arka is also somewhat of a surrogate father figure to his nephew Mihael.       

Now on the bottom row, we have Eras and Tia, Mihael's parents, and they're really more like cameo characters for me (I also didn't realize until later that I gave Arka and Eras nearly the same facial expression... they are brothers for sure). Eras is Arka's older brother, and rightfully the current patriarch of the Sinoda family. Unlike his brother, he's a bit harder around the edges and holds high expectations for the family. Fortunately, he has the ever jovial and earnest Tia to bring him down a few pegs when he needs it.

And finally, there's Merula, who's from a race of people called the Amaranti. The Amaranti are an ancient race, with long lifespans, and are slowly decreasing in number. For reasons unknown, Merula was exiled from his community, but was lucky to be accepted by Thaddeus in Lar, where he now works alongside him. Generally, Merula doesn't think much of most humans — frankly, it's a mutual stance — and he only bides his time with those he deems intelligent. He's seemingly a weapons expert, and also quite talented in combat, so many suspect he may have previously been a soldier. Once in a while, he'll train others in combat, as long as they learn fast and argue little.
